Happy Boxing Day!

Christmas is a raver holiday. (So the day after may as well be too.) Lots of love, loads of lights, and good vibes all around. I've been really excited for this song to be released since I first heard it on A State Of Trance a few weeks ago:

Have a wonderful Boxing Day, humans!

Get BIG!

Yup. Go to the gym humans. Lift those weights. Take some steroids. Get BIG! And with that goal in mind, here are some motivational tracks. Enjoy with a healthy serving of protein.

Saturday Banger

It's probably the last Saturday we've got before we're completely caught up in final nonsense, so make it count. Ryan Kasper's new Clarity remix has arrived to help turn your night into one to remember. He takes the already great song and totally turns it on it's head. We've been waiting for Kasper to break out on the scene and this song might be the one to do it for him. If not though, it's a clear indicator that it's only a matter of time before he does. Get weird, humans.

And for the trance lovers out there:

Easy

Huge new release from two of our favorites here at FYH. These guys are two of the most talented creative producers out there.

New release from Dirtybird, Eats Everything give Justin Martins track a little extra umph. This one comes from Ghettos and Gardens Remixes Volume 2, and blurs the line between deep and electro in a delicious way.

Fresh tasteful take on a classic.

I'll upload the rest soon. In the mean time, you can download the whole thing or just stream it here. Hopefully it'll help you ease the pain of finals or maybe inspire you to get out of the studio for a second and have some fun. In any case, I hope you like it.

Disclosure: it's entirely trance.

Tracklist:

Go Deep

Keepin in weird, deep and groovy on this Saturday morning.

Lady (Kaytranada Remix) - Modjo
Some fresh deep disco, wait for the bass-line before you put this one down.

Definitely on the softer side but a beautiful track none the less. I cannot seem to get this song out of my head.

Eerily groovy

Weirdest of the bunch. Not sure what is going on with this song, but like all things Nico Jaar, its got a groove to make you move.

Weird is becoming the weekend standard. Let's get raunchy.

The Return of the Joda

It's Friday and the joda has returned to FYH in all its glory. The focus is on that good, ole-fashioned house music. Turn up the volume, strap on your dancing shoes, and have a swanky weekend. Cheers.

Mat Zo has been using this track a lot recently. Sufficed to say, you can't sit still to this one.

Classic big room house.

Once again, no Arty, no Party.

The Italian duo destroys another remix.

Flamenco with house. I think yes.

Trance Tuesday

It's been a while since I've posted on the blog and it's getting to be that time when we're all bogged down with work and finals. Thankfully some great music has been coming out to hold our hand while we crawl towards that finish line.

This one is not trance at all. It's some of that deep shit and it's awesome. I was put onto it by my good friend Ill Emitter. Check it out.

ABGT 001

As you all know, Above & Beyond chose to end their long-standing radio show Trance Around the World last week with a celebration of global proportions in India. It also marked the beginning of their new show, Above & Beyond Group Therapy. If the sets from TATW 450/ABGT 001 are any indication, then this new show will be just as good, if not better, than the original. I have a couple of my favorite tracks from each set to share with you. Cheers.

- Shake

Bonus:

A beautiful set with tons of unreleased tracks and classics. Definitely worth a listen.

You can't lie to house muzik...

As the title may suggest, I'm harkening back to my roots for this one and bringing you some dirty, dirty house music for the end of the week blues. Enjoy.

Catchy synth-work and a big, bad drop make this track durty.

This has some of that beachy, techy vibe I have been digging. Oh yeah, and there is a trumpet.

A swanky upbeat progressive bootleg that I have been digging.

Tech house all the way home. It's long and strange. But a classic. Keep this one in the back pocket for those times when things get weird.

Pryda-esque. Probably because it comes off his label. Wonderful track.

I've always been a Mark Knight fan. And I like Marco V. So, I endorse this track. Good vocals too.

- Shake

Bonus:
A wonderful mash-up from Kaskade using Pryda's Allein. No download yet, but you can listen to it here.

Group Therapy Radio

Yesterday Above & Beyond confirmed that the end of Trance Around The World does not mark the end of their radio dynasty, but instead the beginning of a new era of it. Under the new title "Group Therapy Radio," Above & Beyond will continue to fill our hearts and souls with their Anjuna-magic every week. Their TATW sendoff this Saturday will also mark the first episode of their new show. For more details visit:

Here's a little something to hold you over until then:

For Meg

Winter is coming! Sadly for Game of Thrones fans, new episodes are not. I can, however, offer you these tunes as a consolation to keep you warm on those cold winter nights.

Get Some - Fion & Brame
Some catchy deep/future house to get warmed up.

Dope song, surprisingly hard drop in a good way.

Lets take it up a few notches with this huge remix by The FatRat. I prefer this sound to most of his previous stuff and hope to hear more like this. If you like this, check out the version by Ko Ko. It's not electronic but damn is it catchy.

Farewell

Trance Around The World 450 will be the last ever Trance Around The World. Above & Beyond promised a special surprise during the retrospective 449th episode of their weekly radio show, but no one expected a surprise like this. The show took its listeners back through an emotional mix of classics, old and new, closing with the foreshadowing analogue remix of "Breaking Ties."

Along with their announcement, they uploaded the above picture to their Facebook page. Some read it as a suggestion of a new OceanLab project, but only time will tell. How much time? Above & Beyond will be making another announcement of some kind when this clock runs out:

Will this be the end of our weekly therapy sessions? I don't think so. Above & Beyond are menders of hearts, not breakers of them. I imagine that we'll still be getting our weekly dose of uplifting trance, but through a show with a more appropriate label.

Here are a few of the classics shared in TATW 449. I've included the entire thing as well and I highly recommend taking the time to listen to it.

Hope Springs Eternal

With the hope that this weekend is exactly what all the humans out there need, I have some interesting new tracks lined up. From the deepest depths of house to melodic trance and that progressive everyone seems to enjoy oh so much, here is to hoping that this post has something for ya. Cheers.

Found this little gem in Dusky's Essential Mix.

Need I say more?

A groovy, groovy track.

Some melodic progressive house.

The British duo themselves kill it with this one.

A little something from Axwell's mush fest at Electric Zoo.

Armin "the godfather" van Buuren endorses it. I'm into it.

Best Coast

The Giants have won the World Series and Hurricane Sandy is makin' it rain in the East. Sounds like the time to be on the West Coast. But if like me, you are not, here are some songs to make you feel better about it.

Berlin Sunrise (Lee Jones Remix) - Fink
Soulful vocals over an acid house baseline. Subtle but tasty.

Feel good deep house. If you like this check out some of his other tracks.

Feel good electro house, pretty unique sound.

Classic big room electro house. Wolfgang Gartner turned me on to this one.

Reader request by a reader with very good taste!

Hate is the Killer

After meandering through the latest Porter Robinson sets, I have stumbled upon some swanky new tunes. Unfortunately, I don't have any new tracks by the man himself so these will have to suffice for the meantime. Enjoy.

A classic big-house chune with an interesting breakdown.

Bass heavy. Oooooof.

No Arty, No Party.

Bonus:

The Maor man adds some character to an otherwise uninteresting track.

Some Friday Tunes

I have some groovy new tracks for all the humans that just happen to be on the deeper side of the spectrum. Cheers.

Giulia (Arapaima X-Mix) - Liar
Super catchy. Can't get this one out of my head.

The deep house maestra herself returns.

A wonderful tech house remix of SHM's newest track. A must download.

Mat Zo & shit

As you may or may not know, I have a love for all things Mat Zo. He recently released a couple of mixes, an India-inspired mix for Trance Around the World 450 and the last hour of the Anjunabeats Worldwide 300 mix. I have compiled some of my favorite tracks, both old and new, from both. They are phenomenal. Cheers.

An older remix, but beautiful and melodic nonetheless.

A classic house tune.

Durty.

Got that deep house feel.

A staple in Mat Zo sets.

A wonderful, slightly spastic track.

Gotta have some electro-house in the mix.

And I leave you with the master himself.

Different Phases

The weekend is here! And these songs are designed to guide you through the many phases of your friday evening.

The Pregame:

Little Man (Clancy's Deep Haze Remix) - Little Dragon
This track should warm things up with the irresistible vocals of Little Dragon given the deep house treatment by Clancy.

The Dance Floor:

Ran Tam Tam (Main Mix) - Alex Gueasto & Stefano Pain
You are jumpin and jivin on the dance floor as this big room house banger lets you show off some of your wilder moves. Things are getting weird and you don't know where your friends are. Maybe indulge the random dude who has been awkwardly dancing next to you for the last hour with a kiss, or maybe you try to befriend the bouncer who bears an odd resemblance to you favorite childhood cartoon character. Who's to say?

The Late Night:

All That Matters - Kolsch
Either way, you are now ready for my favorite track of the bunch. You have sobered up and are entering the late night phase. If you download only one song from the post is the one. I have had it on repeat for days since hearing it in a live set by our buddy Ill Emitter.

Happy Friday,

That Good Good 2

Here are some really great songs that I think you will enjoy as you move through the week. Whether you are tappng your foot in the library, or shredding up the dance floor, these tracks oughta do the trick.

Phunk Investigation - Elvis Was A DJ
Driving big house groove.

Fuck U All The Time (Shlohmo) - Jeremih
Promised more Jeremih so here it is, this time in Shlohmo :)

Cheers,

Rules Of Dada

Dada Life's new album came out this week. A lot of the songs have really awful vocals and a lot of them sound pretty similar. But some of them are pretty awesome. See for yourself. Here are all the songs that haven't been released as singles already.

This one's my favorite.

Trance Fix

Trance is my healthiest binge.

This one is probably my favorite of the bunch.

Sunny Lax has been killing it for me lately. He's got a couple new tracks coming out soon, but this one should hold you until we can get our hands on those.

I'm a sucker for trancey female vocals. And Johan Malmgren knows how to throw down a good remix.

That Good Good

Here are some really great songs that I think you will enjoy as you move through the week. Whether you are tappng your foot in the library, or shredding up the dance floor, these tracks oughta do the trick.

Fake Love - Blende
I posted a remix of this a while back, but have realized that the original is far superior so check it out.

Over - Fantastic Mr. Fox
Like the name, and the song.

Latch (feat. Sam Smith) - Disclosure
This song has been all over the internet as a preview. However it is finally out and, in case you somehow missed it, do not miss this excellent track by Disclosure

773 Love (Cashmere Cat Remix) - Jeremih
Showin a lot of love to soulful house music lately and what could be more soulful than R&B singer Jeremih?

Cheers,

Do the Dirty

After the longest of long weeks, Friday is here. It's time to do the dirty, get after it, joda onwards, etc. Here are some tracks to help. Cheers.

My favorite Argentine duo at it again. The breakdown at 2:45 is especially swanky.

Showing some more Argie love with up-and-comer Chris Schweizer

Switching Gears:

I love anything with lyrics in Portuguese. And, this just happens to be a nifty little tech house track.

More groovy tech house.

I know what you're thinking. Really? Give it a shot. It's worth your while.

Bonus:
Can't get this one out of my head.

Stuck In The Box

It's not very often that I get to post A&B songs, as their label goes super fucking hard and takes everything down almost instantly. But this song is from 2004, so I've got my hopes up that it'll last. It was A&B's "Stuck In The Box" selection from last week's TATW. It's still awesome.

Clarity

Anton Zaslavski of Germany, better known as Zedd, is an extremely talented electro-house producer. Today he released his debut album entitled "Clarity". It features 10 tracks and each one of them bring a little something different to the table. Listeners will recognize two previously released tracks, "Shave It Up" and "Spectrum", however, several of the remaining new release overpower those oldies by a considerable margin. Here are three of my favorites after an initial listen.

Solid and intriguing progressive house.

I am a sucker for anything that hints at french electro.

Mainstream vocal progressive track with some interesting twists and turns which give it a unique harmonic edge.

Heavier vocal track, might be a little too heavy but if you can play it, you are sure to smash the dancefloor with this one. On a side note I swear he samples 50 cent at 2:26. Does anyone else here that?

Overall you can expect a few tracks that fall flat in the style of "Spectrum". However, in between those duds, you will find some real gems that are- pleasing to both the ears and the dance floor.
