Eggnog

Happy Holidays Humans. Before I get to work on my best of 2011 list. I wanted to give you guys a few tunes to play softly around the christmas tree.

A-Trak is the man. Just saw him open for SHM. Who is wearing the cap? Usually This Guy

While it is not quite "Rebound", this track does not disappoint. Mat Zo is the newest addition to my favorite producers list and at the tender age of 21 he is a master of his craft.

This bulk of this song is typical Mord Fustang but it is the section around 1:50 that strikes me as a new sound for the group and I like what I hear.

Felguk . . . Still killin it

Happy Holidays,

Slaptop

Bangerang EP

I don't like Skrillex that much. Why? It's usually repetitive, abrasive, and lacks imagination. Don't even get me started on his collaborations with Korn. . . that said,

I THINK HIS NEW EP IS DOPE.

Each song is unique, tasteful, and fuckin slaps. This EP is a reminder of his technical ability and the creativity that made him who he is today. He seems to be experimenting with new genres, tempos, and collaborations and this time he has struck a chord with me. I hear tempo changes, Hip Hop, The Doors, Wolfgang Gartner, rhythmically interesting music that does not trade aesthetic appeal for its huge drops (which are definitely still there). But you guys should really hear for yourselves.

Womppy Womplidays,

Introducing Nicky Romero

Nicky Romero is destined for stardom. His collaboration with Avicii titled "Fuck School" is the next "Levels" and will be released in the coming months. However, if you think this guy came out of no where, think again.

Camorra - Nicky Romero
Make sure to listen to the first drop on this one all the way turnt up. So Clean.

Just the right amount of dirt on the drop with a sick syncopated rhythm at 0:52.

Slam The Door

If you follow this blog at all, you'll know that I have a massive hard-on for Zedd.  He's got an upcoming release on Skrillex's label OWSLA (for which I have an equally large hard-on) called "Slam The Door."  Here's a preview ripped form some radioshow.  Expect the download as soon as this bad boy gets an official release.

Colours (Simon D Remake)

I first noticed this track as one of the standouts from Swedish House Mafia's set at Madison Square Garden, but wasn't sure what it was.  Now I've found it, and am prepared to share it with all of you.  Enjoy.

Drunk 'n' dirty

You like dirty music? Yeah? Me too.  Here's some.

Given the nu-jump up treatment.

Modern DnB/Dubstep champ Sub Focus just dropped this new single, enjoy.

Knife Party doing dirty dubstep? yes plx.

Word on the street is that Skrillex is planning on dropping an album sometime in the next couple months called "Bangarang." Expect this track to be included.

Swedish House Mafia @ Madison Square Garden

Tonight, Swedish House Mafia raized Madison Square Garden to the ground.  After massive hype the day finally came when the swedes took the stage at one of the world's most famous venues.  Unfortunately I wasn't able to attend, despite being offered a front row ticket by a friend of mine.  I thought it would be smart to stay at school and finish my finals so that I wouldn't fail my classes.  Bad choice.  After watching the live feed of the show, I can tell you that I have never before seen a house set executed to such incredible effect.  The lighting and lazers were all fine, but what was truly note-worthy was the music.  Seb, Steve, and Axwell combined spot on track selection, clever mixing, and perfect flow to create a legendary set.  This party will not be soon forgotten.

I've included some of the standout tracks from the set, as well as a link to a download of the entire set.

On a side note, Knife Party recently released their hotly anticpated debut EP, 100% No Modern Talking.  It's available for free download on their facebook, so there's no reason not to check it out.

The song that propelled Arty to superstardom.

To The Stars

"Sometimes there's so much beauty in the world, I feel like I can't take it, and my heart is just going to cave in."
-American Beauty

The kings of uplifting dance music blend pseudo-african vocals with progressive trance to create one of their best productions to date.

I'm a little late on this one, but it took a while to grow on me.  Some of the best vocal chopping I've ever heard.

Trance through and through from two of the game's biggest names.

Happy weekend.

Thirsty Thursday

In case you're planning on celebrating the national holiday of thirsty thursday tonight, here are a few tunes to get the party started.

Up and coming electro house outfit Cazzette are taking the EDM scene by storm.  This is their newest production, a dirty remix/bootleg of Avicii's now-legendary Levels.

Trance-god Gareth Emery recently dropped this bomb and it's been tearing up trance charts ever since.  It features a darker, heavier sound than anything else I've heard from Gareth, but still incorporates his signature melodic craftmanship.

Basto is back again with another melodic house monster.

Dat Dirty Dirty

Just found this mini-documentary following Porter Robinson on the last 4 gigs of the recent College Invasion Tour with Tiesto.  If you're as much of an edm nerd as I am you're sure to enjoy it.

Porter Robinson - Unison (Mikkas Remix)
Featured in the documentary above.  Mikkas takes unison and dirties it up a bit.

Mikkas - Syndrome
Similar electro-house sound to Porter, with an epic half time drop towards the end.

Axwell vs. R.E.M. vs Ferry Corsten - Heart Is King vs. Losing My Religion vs. Punk (Arty Remix)
Slap turned me on to a mashup of just the first two songs in this beast, but I felt the drop really lacked umph.  Enter Arty.  Problem solved.

Morgan Page, Sultan & Ned Shepard and BT - In The Air (Mord Fustang Remix)
Classic Mord Fustang sound, wobbles with lots of slick harmonies riding over them.
